The andirons in Anna Petrus' classic lion design were shown in Svenskt Tenn’s catalog as early as in 1931, then made of brass. They were first put into production around 1928, and are today manufactured in cast iron.

Sculptor and designer Anna Petrus (1886-1949) studied in London, at Althin Painting School and at the Academy of Fine Arts in Stockholm. In the mid-1920s, Anna Petrus was one of the leading designers at Svenskt Tenn. She participated in a number of exhibitions; the World Exhibition in Paris in 1925, the Stockholm Exhibition in 1930 and the Swedish industrial art exhibition in London in 1931.
