A decorative umbrella stand in lacquered sheet metal with Fornasetti's characteristic Cappelli pattern; a beautiful illustration of different coloured hats. The exquisite form and aesthetics easily transform a rainy day into an artistic experience. Every Fornasetti creation, from furniture and accessories to high quality porcelain items, is strictly handmade in Italy. In the atelier, the techniques used to make the very first products are still in use. Colour is applied by hand and the original paper patterns are preserved.
Piero Fornasetti (1913-1988) was an Italian painter, sculptor and designer who created more than 13,000 products during his career with a distinctive design style that is immediately recognisable. He is considered one of the 20th century’s foremost creative talents. Svenskt Tenn’s founder Estrid Ericson was friends with Piero Fornasetti and they had a great mutual respect for each other’s creations. They began working together in 1946. Today, Piero Fornasetti’s son, Barnaba, is perpetuating the tradition.
