Charlotte Lynggaard

I have been a jewellery designer for 35 years, but I have always had a love for textiles: napkins, tablecloths… and for table settings. I collect tableware and enjoy mixing and matching different colours and prints.

In the spring of 2022, Svenskt Tenn will launch a completely new table setting collection, designed by Danish goldsmith and jewellery designer Charlotte Lynggaard. Here, she has used her love and passion for setting tables, and created tablecloths, napkins, placemats, trays and napkin rings, all with nature-inspired designs and motifs.

Charlotte Lynggaard is an artist who leaves nothing to chance. Smitten with the wonders of nature, her work is all about joy and quality of life. The fish motif that decorates both tablecloths and napkins in the collection is something that Charlotte has always been very fond of.

I have always adored fish motifs, since I feel that they awaken a sense of dreams and wonder. My designs are partly interpretations of the fish that live in the sea in front of our house in Oresund, a place that lies between Denmark and Sweden.

I’m driven by the thought of what a table setting can do to people, how it connects us to one another and creates a joyful atmosphere. And I want to use the influences of nature to achieve that. The four seasons, with their changes in light and colour, have been my main sources of inspiration in this collaboration.

The collaboration with Svenskt Tenn felt natural to Charlotte, who has been a frequent visitor of the store on Strandvägen 5 in Stockholm throughout the years.

Svensk Tenn has always attracted my attention both as a company and as a brand. It is a design house with a fantastic story, where the soul has been kept and preserved and where classic design goes hand in hand with the finest craftsmanship. I very much hope that this collection will be a lasting contribution to Svensk Tenn’s magical world of design.
