“I often don't have a strong idea when I begin to paint, but instead, I let it grow as I create. I let the shape of the egg lead me to the pattern, which reminds me of classic serpentines at children’s parties, and that’s how the collection got its name.”

Natasia Wadsted is the Swedish artist and designer behind Svenskt Tenn's Easter collection 2022. She studied Interior Architecture and Furniture Design at Konstfack University of Arts, Crafts and Design in Stockholm, and works at the intersection of sculpture and furniture design. The collection consists of a table cloth made in the finest linen fabric, hand-painted glass eggs and napkins in a festive and vivid design, with colours from Josef Frank's iconic print Mille Fleurs (A Thousand Flowers).

“I liked the playfulness of the name Serpentine, and the idea of using such a perishable decoration as inspiration.”

“The egg's pattern is similar to a zoomed in view of a plain weave. The squares of the table cloth are, in turn, an interpretation of the egg's pattern, how the thick and thin lines intertwine.”
